FAQs
Which insurers do you work with?
I work with BUPA, WPA, AXA Health and Aviva. To begin sessions you will need to obtain an authorisation code from your insurer which I will use to invoice them directly. You may also need to pay an excess for the first session and upon renewal of your annual health insurance, so please check this before starting your sessions with me. You are personally liable for any shortfall that may occur as a result of these sessions, including as a result of an excess charge becoming due.
How long are
therapy sessions?
All 1-1 therapy sessions are for fifty minutes. EMDR sessions may last longer and this will be discussed in advance.
Will I need to be there for my teen's sessions?
When working with teens, I will usually like to meet you both together at the first session, so that we can get to know each other a little more. Once your teen feels comfortable, we will then move to 1-1 sessions. Some parents and carers, especially those with older teens, may wish to have a separate check-in prior to individual sessions starting but not take part in the session. This can be over the telephone or online. I will usually have a review with parents/ carers periodically during sessions to check in and answer any questions.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies depending on the reason you are coming for therapy. For some people, six to ten sessions are enough, whereas for others, especially those with more complex trauma and relational issues, more sessions will be required.
What happens if I need to cancel a session?
I ask for 24 hours notice if you are unable to attend a session, after which point you will be charged for the session. Where possible, I will try to rearrange and find a mutually convenient alternative time for your session.
How does everything work once I'm ready to start sessions?
Once you are ready to book a session, I will send you a recurring Zoom link for you to use with all sessions. I will also send you a copy of my terms and conditions, and an invoice payable in advance. All sessions are invoiced weekly in advance unless we agree otherwise, for example, if your employer or insurer is paying for your sessions. On the day of your session, you simply log on at the agreed time, enter the online waiting room, and the session will then begin.
I'd like to have a short chat with you before I book a session.
If you think you would like to start sessions, but would like to talk to me first, please send me a message using the contact link above and we can arrange a free 15 minute intro call to discuss things in more detail, and so that I can answer any questions you may have.

In accordance with good practice, I undertake professional supervision, in which case all client details are kept strictly anonymous.
